Dealing with a loss

Hey guys I just wanted to let you guys know that I've been dealing with a lot the last few weeks. My dog became sick this year and while trying to take care of her and figure out what was wrong we finally found out and thought we might have at least the year with her, we would have months. Sadly it ended up we would only have weeks and barely even that. Recently, we had to put her to sleep and the decision was the most difficult thing I've had to do in my entire life. That being said I've not dealt with this well at all. My children haven't either. I've been scattered and forgetful and completely off my game and my blog is suffering from it. I want to say now I am so sorry for late posts and falling behind on reviews and posts. I'm slowly getting there.

Blog Tour: Playing the Pauses by Michelle Hazen

We are excited to celebrate the release of PLAYING THE PAUSES by Michelle Hazen. This is the second installment in her Sex, Love, and Rock & Roll series. Follow the tour for reviews, excerpts, guest posts, plus enter to win a $50 Amazon gift card!
“Hazen’s use of the frantic energy of a rock band’s tour contrasts perfectly with the slow and seductive dance this couple engages in. Readers are sure to enjoy following The Red Letters on their drama-fueled climb to fame. “ —RT Book Reviews

“To call Playing the Pauses an erotic novel alone would be to belie its equally strong explorations of the boundaries between personal, career, and sexual growth.” —Midwest Book Review
When an ultra-independent tour manager meets the one musician she can’t resist, their kinks fit together perfectly, but their lives don’t. Michelle Hazen is back with PLAYING THE PAUSES, the second, stand-alone installment in her Sex, Love, and Rock & Roll series. Fans of Kylie Scott’s Stage Dive Series and YOU REALLY GOT ME by Erika Kelly, will love this bad boy, friends with benefits romance with a dash of BDSM mixed in.

Rock Star Dom + his Queen of the Spreadsheet employee = KRYPTONITE

Kate is a globe-trotting tour manager who can’t be tied down.
Danny is a Dominant rock star and tattoo artist who needs her help to explore his true kinks.

Kate just got her big break, running an international tour for a rising band. Her job is everything to her…at least until she meets the band’s enigmatic bass player.

After they collide in one unforgettably erotic night on a hotel balcony, he comes to her with a proposition. As a former BDSM club performer, Danny’s spent so long fulfilling other people’s fantasies that now he wants to reclaim his own—and he says she’s the only one who can help.

Getting caught in bed with her rock star boss could cost her career, and yet there’s something about Danny’s quiet intensity that she can’t resist. He steals her heart, hard. But the end of the tour is approaching, and their jobs are headed two different directions.

To be together one of them will have to stop touring, but the only thing they crave as much as each other is music.

Dating Profile of Your Next Book Boyfriend

To celebrate the release of his book, I thought I’d show you what it would look like if Danny popped up on your favorite dating app.
Of course, Danny would never post a dating profile. First, because he attracts women with no effort at all. Second, because it would just never occur to him. But if he was lonely, his best friend Jera would absolutely fill one out without telling him and she’s pretty good at knowing exactly what he’d say.

Age: 23

Height: 6’1”

Career: Bass player for The Red Letters, Tattoo Artist at Negative Image Tattoos

Favorite activities: Music and tats. Writing new basslines. Sketching with charcoal or drawing practice tattoos on my best friend in Sharpie. Spending time in BDSM clubs, either on stage or in my private room.

Least favorite activities: Lifting weights. Jogging. Seriously, fuck jogging. Where the hell are you running to, anyway? And why lift heavy things if you’re not going to carry them anywhere? Get a real fucking hobby. Our lead singer, Jax, made me start working out when we got our record deal, for the fans, he said. Sometimes I pick fights with him when he’s drunk just so I can punch him for it. Besides, if you do it right, sex is the only workout you need.

Favorite foods: Cheetos, microbrew beer, pizza, Funyuns, Jera’s M&M stash

Least favorite foods: Anything that grows in the ground or used to walk around on legs. Strictly a vending machine vegetarian.

Favorite celebrity: I don’t know any, and how would I know if I like them if we’ve never met? Also, anybody who needs that much attention is probably a douche.

What you’re looking for in a woman: Nobody clingy or who’s going to get pissy at how much time I spend with my band, or that my best friend is a girl. Kink-positive would be nice, but not necessary. I swing a lot of different ways depending on who I’m with, and it’s all fun. Somebody who loves music. Not likes music the same way you like Skittles. Loves it.
Someone who doesn’t want me to change. And Nickelback is a deal-breaker.

Kimberly Knight Guest Post
I’m excited for you all to read Use Me!
Like a lot of authors, I got my inspiration for the book from a song. I heard it one day on the radio and thought, “this would make a good tragic love story.” I decided to write said tragic love story about a girl using a guy to get over an ex. But you know what they say, right? Not everything goes as planned.
While I had every intention of Ashtyn using Rhys and then for her to realize that it was Rhys all along that had Ashtyn’s heart, that’s not exactly how the story goes. They told me they needed more. And more is what they got.
Ashtyn and Rhys are the pieces in other people’s games as they try to move on from heartaches. They turn to each other for more than the occasional using of sex. And while I had planned the story to go one way, it went a different way and the ending was changed.
So, maybe I was a part of their game too?

Use Me Excerpt

My heart stopped as I saw the man I’d met a week ago. Rhys was leaning against the bar, a pint of beer in his hand and a huge you’re-making-me-hard-by-dancing-like-that grin on his face. I smiled back and then turned back to my friends as the song switched. I could no longer focus on the words that were being sung or even the beat because my thoughts were solely on the man behind me. Was he going to come dance with me? Was he hard like I assumed he was? Did he get back together with his girlfriend? Did he come here a lot or just on Saturdays? Would sex with him be considered stranger sex?
It didn’t take long for me to get at least one of my answers.
Make that two.
Before I knew it, a hard—and I mean hard—body was pressed against my backside. All of my friend’s eyes widened, and I smiled, feeling busted. I didn’t know why. Rhys and I weren’t a thing, but it felt as though I was keeping a secret from them. Of course, the only secret was the three kisses that had meant nothing.

“What the fuck, Lucy?”
“You know exactly what I’m talking about.” He pulled her dress up, though he didn’t need the confirmation. “You come in here with that cock tease of a dress and you aren’t wearing panties.” Jealousy and desire twisted viciously through him. “Were you going to give Aaron a little show?”
“Oh, please. Give me a little credit.” She lifted her chin. “I’m proving a point. You, Gideon Novak, don’t get to make my decisions for me. I appreciate your help, but that’s where it ends.”
She didn’t want him.
He was good enough to fuck but not good enough to listen to.
He kept a white-knuckled grip on his temper because having a knock-down, drag-out fight here and now wasn’t an option for either of them. Not to mention the fact that he didn’t have a right to be pissed. She’d laid out the terms that first day and if he chose to ignore them, that was on him—not on
It didn’t make how shitty this situation was any easier to swallow.
Gideon stepped back. “The table. Bend over it.”
Her eyebrows inched up. “You can’t be serious.”
“As a fucking heart attack. I told you what would happen if you showed up like that, and you were all too eager to pick up that gauntlet. Choices have consequences, Lucy. This is one of them.”
She backed toward the table. One step. Two. “The consequences being that you’ll spank my ass red and then fuck me right here.”
She wants it.
It didn’t soothe his temper. If anything, it ratcheted it up a notch. She might want it but she didn’t want him. “The table.”
Lucy turned and, prim as a princess, bent over the table. She seemed to consider and then lowered her chest further until the top half of her body was flush against the polished wood. The position left her ass in the air and had her skirt riding up so he could see how turned on she was by this.
“Which part is getting you?” He stood between her and the door and pushed her dress the last few inches to bare her completely. “The spanking, the defiance, or the fact that we’re in an unlocked room where anyone could walk in—including your fucking date?”
She tilted her ass up, just a little, an offer that made his mouth water. But it was her words that sealed her fate. “All of the above.”

Kelly’s back.

How can two simple words make Dylan Bronstad’s heart ache and sing at the same time?
Even seven years ago, Kelly Anne Leeson had possessed that power. Back then, all Dylan wanted to do was drink and make love to her. Really, it was no wonder she’d climbed out of his bed and walked out of his life, leaving him with nothing but a nasty hangover and the lonely memories of their time together.
Today, Dylan’s life is on track. He’s sober with the support of his family and his tight-knit group of friends. But Kelly could derail all he’s worked to accomplish. Unfortunately, he can’t seem to stay away from her.
Lured by the offer of her dream job, Kelly returns home to Crawford Falls and the friends she’d abandoned a lifetime ago. Mending those broken relationships will require some honest answers and a fair amount of forgiveness.
But facing Dylan will take a lot more—like maybe a suit of armor to protect her battle-weary heart and the secret she fears she’ll never be able to keep.
While Kelly searches for a way to maintain the safe life she’s created for her son, Dylan works to remind her of the relationship they once had.
Just as they rekindle their relationship, secrets and half-truths threaten to destroy everything.

“Isn’t that your turn?” she asked, huffing embarrassingly loud when they passed the county road and made their way up a fairly steep incline.
“I’m running you home.”
“Don’t need to. I’m a big girl, you know?” Kelly could feel his lazy perusal from her head down to her toes and back again. She was sweaty and gross, and he was checking her out. Unbelievable.
“Mmm. Yes, I know,” he said.
They ran in silence the rest of the way, because it was just too damn hard for her to talk. And he knew it. When they reached the top of the hill and turned onto her street, he said, “Let’s cool down.” They slowed their pace to a casual walk. “I never get to run with anyone. That was nice.”
“But you cut your run short for me. And it’s obvious, you’re in far better shape than I am, given that you can actually talk and run at the same time.”
Dylan just laughed at her comment, clasping his hand with hers, lacing their fingers together. “Go out with me, Kelly Anne. I’ve missed you, and I really want to get to know you again.”
The feel of his hand in hers and that sweet invitation sent a familiar surge of excitement through her. Kelly’s heart squeezed and her stomach did that little flip-flop rollercoaster thing again. As always, her body seemed to respond so naturally to Dylan’s attention. Or perhaps foolishly was a more appropriate definition of her response. While he apparently had warm memories of their time together, to her their relationship had been like watching an incredible firework display—spectacular, bright, loud—and then she’d been plunged into a dark, silent night all alone.
Kelly came to a stop near the side of her mom’s house and turned to face him, sucking in a deep breath and trying to ignore the nice hum of arousal playing through her body. “Jesse’s your best friend, right?” She didn’t wait, because she knew the answer. “Do you hold his hand like this when the two of you are together?” Classic Dylan reaction. He burst into laughter and then released her hand to give her a brief hug. When he stepped back, he wore that expression that generally got him exactly what he wanted. Kelly sighed and shook her head. “No, Dylan. I’m not interested in dating.”
Dylan moved in closer, tilting her chin up with one finger so she’d be forced to meet his eyes. Why did he insist on touching her like that? It did crazy things to her brain, not to mention the fact that it all but melted her resolve. “You’re kidding me. Come on, Kelly Anne. We were great together. Why not try it again?”
Because I know my heart will never survive.

GREEN Excerpt

Eventually, I select a large canvas, so large, I can’t get it on the easel and settle for the floor. I strip my jeans, long sleeved shirt and slip my shoes off, donning the sizeable green smock hanging on the wall. And I paint. Losing track of time or space. Fully immersed in the colors, my vision, my emotion.
“Here you are,” Coop says from the doorway, and I twist on all fours in his direction.
He’s leaning on the door jamb with his arms relaxed at his sides, and his feet crossed like he has been standing there a while.
“How long have you been here?”
I’ve been painting for hours, my fingers tingle, my feet are numb, and my lower back aches from crouching and contorting myself into strange, awkward positions. I was oblivious to the cries of my body while working.
“A bit.” He pushes off the wall, nearing to help me to my feet.
I roll my neck and shake out my limbs before tilting my head to look at him. He smiles, his white teeth and twinkling eyes pop as he tucks a few strands behind my ear.
“You’ve got some paint on your face.” His finger slides down my check and then the side of my nose. “It looks good on you.”
Heat travels from the center of my chest outward, and I can’t help but smile, “I’m glad you think so.”
Gone is my anger or bruised ego from his departure last night. I don’t really know what I was expecting or wanting, and I’m glad to see him. I’m also happy to see that he’s more himself.
“What am I going to do with you? You have to stop disappearing on me.”
“And what? Make your job easier, not a chance.” I tease, treading lightly, all too aware of the kind of trouble my wondering off could cause.
